I had this issue updating management components on Windows 7. (I had previously installed SP2 on 5 Exchange servers without any issue)

I located servicecontrol.ps1 and removed winmgmt from the control arrays

Line 41: $script:servicesToControl['Common']
Line 58: $script:servicesToControl['Critical']

(Although line 41 may have sufficed alone.)
Installation was flawless--even all the disabled services were reset prior to the finalization stage.

Great sripct! But noticed a tiny spelling mistake, it should beforeach($user in $web.SiteAdministrators)instead offoreach($user in $web.SiteAdministrator)

I'm having the same issue, trying to upgrade to SP 2 from Exchange 2010 SP1 RU 6. I get the AuthorizationManager check failed error message. This then blows away my Exchange binaries and then disables WMI, I then renable, try SP2 again, then it fails again. I cannot get this to install.

The exact same thing happened to our server with Exchange 2010 sp1 ru6 when we tried to upgrade it to sp2. Fortunately I also had a snapshot ready.

Solution: Setting the WMI service back to Automatic (during the install process).

Always always take a snapshot before updating Exchange.
